What is a Salt Lamp?
Millions of years ago, the present day subcontinents of India and Eurasia collided, elevating the ocean beds high into the air, creating the Himalayan Mountains. Salt crystal from the ocean beds remained trapped deep in the cavernous depths of the Himalayan Mountains for centuries. Now, the salt, once inaccessible to man, is available for your benefit and enjoyment.

Himalayan salt comes from a time when the earth was pristine. Himalayan salt is pure, chemical-free and contains no impurities form environmental pollution. The composition of the salt has one of the world’s highest elemental concentration of 84 minerals and trace elements, the same nutritional elements our bodies need to survive.

The effects of Himalayan salt lamps are reported to be similar to those of ionizers. Natural salt lamps permeate their surroundings with negative ions. Negative ions are believed to kill bacteria, purify the air, reduce radiation, increase well-being and soothe the mind, body and soul. The ionization from salt lamps is reported to relieve fatigue, anxiety, depression, insomnia, bronchial, cold, ADHD, burns, allergies, sinus, catarrh, eczema and emphysema.

What are negative ions?
Negative ions are colorless and tasteless molecules that are abundant in nature. Mountains, beaches and waterfalls all contain these negative ions. A sense of calm and well-being is the benefit of negative ions entering the bloodstream.

It is recommended that you leave your lamp lit as much as possible to achieve optimal ionization and best air purifying results. Additionally, the heat provided by the bulb will drastically reduce the amount of moisture build-up around the lamp.

Where do I put my Salt Lamp?
Salt lamps and salt candle holders make wonderful additions to bedrooms, bathrooms, offices, and dining tables. We recommend placer bigger salt lamps in bigger rooms. Larger salt rock lamps emit more negative ions than smaller ones due to the greater amount of lamp surface area.

What is included with my Salt Lamp?
All of our natural salt lamps come fully equipped with a standard UL certified cord, light bulb, finely stained and polished rosewood base. Every Himalayan salt product is individually boxed.

How do I clean my Salt Lamp?
Turn the lamp off and let cool. Locate a damp cloth (not soaking wet), sponge or towel and wipe the surface clean of any moisture or dust.

What makes Salt Lamps so unique?
No two salt lamps or natural salt products will ever be alike. They naturally contain veins, cracks and striations. The colors range from light orange to dark red. Weight and size will vary within product styles and we only give approximations and averages. Due to these variances we can not guarantee shape, size or color but we do guarantee our entire salt lamp and salt lamp product collection will be one of a kind.

How do I replace the bulb?
Before changing the bulb, make sure the lamp has had time to cool off, and then unplug it. Turn the lamp sideways, squeeze the metal prongs and pull the bulb holder straight out. Remove the old bulb and replace it with a new one. We recommend 5 to 25 watt candelabra based bulbs. Replacement bulbs can be found in most large-scale retain outlets, including Home Depot, Walmart, Dollar Stores and local hardware stores. And feel free to experiment with color bulbs, too.

Are there any other care instructions I need to be concerned about?
Salt is hygroscopic, meaning it naturally absorbs moisture particles from the surrounding environment. The resulting effect is the lamp surface area will begin to sweat as it works to repel excess moisture. Therefore, Himalayan salt should never be exposed to rain, dipped in water or placed in moisture prone environments, such as basements with poor ventilation.

If your lamp begins to sweat, do not be alarmed; the salt lamp is performing its natural obligation. Profuse sweating indicates the surrounding environment is too moist for the lamp to function properly. If this is the case, we strongly urge you to find a more suitable climate for the salt lamp.
